Students spotlight Koganecho locally-owned shops, including longstanding shops operating since before World War II, those established after the war, as well as shops which moved into Koganecho from elsewhere. Researchers unearth historical knowledge about Koganecho area and its shops through interviews with shop owners on topics such as their business motives and inspiration, their relationships with other local businesses, and the shops' unique characteristics. Furthermore, by using video recordings, students document each shop's appearance and the tools, skills and craftsmanship which has been passed down from generation to generation.

Researchers interview the locals about their "Special Places," recommended "Must-see Spots," and "Scary Places" in Koganecho, and weave together collected personal stories into the area's landscape. Keeping in mind the atmosphere conjured up in the interviewees' personal accounts, students personally visit and photograph each spot, developing their own photo stories.

Student researchers capture the colorful dynamics of intersecting lives in Koganecho by searching out a variety of viewpoints from several residents coming from different backgrounds. Locals of varying age, occupation, gender, and place of residence speak about their experiences and impressions of Koganecho, their present everyday life living in the area, as well as what they see in the future.
